“Congrats! It’s a boy/girl!” is what is typically said to the proud mum (and dad) at the point of the birth of their child. This celebration is often repeated every year – on our birthday – reminding us of the wonder of reproduction.
Scientists have tried to calculate the probability of human existence: The chances of you being born at the time you were born, with your specific parents and your unique genetic makeup, is about 1 out of 400 trillion. (Try writing out that number!) This means that our life is pretty much a miracle, so let’s treat every life as precious and live our lives with great care.
