Kiat Yong is a counsellor with extensive experience serving and counselling individuals, couples and families presenting with a wide spectrum of mental health, interpersonal relationship and behavioural issues since 2013.
A couple therapist by specialisation, her approach to couple therapy is integrative. While she leans towards Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, rooted in Attachment Theory, she integrates concepts and interventions from Gottman Couple Therapy and Relational Life Therapy to address a wide range of couple needs. She is passionate about helping couples recover from marital affairs, find restoration and healing, and rebuild marriages. She works with hurting couples to help them manage conflict, improve interactions, meet each other’s needs, and regain intimacy.
In Family Therapy, her main approach is Systemic Family Therapy, offering conflictual family members a non-blaming, non-judgmental way to communicate feelings and perspectives so family members can reconcile and grow together.
In individual therapy, she uses an integrative approach drawing from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Choice Theory Reality Therapy (CTRT), Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Somatic Therapy, helping individuals to find healing and growth from depression, anxiety, childhood and other traumas.
Intervening with well-researched, scientific, and evidence-based approaches, Kiat Yong is privileged to have witnessed many clients find hope, healing, reconnection, and personal growth in her counselling journeys with them.
