If an overseas vacation is on the cards, let the teens in the household have a hand in planning the itinerary, suggests Ms Susan Koh, a family life specialist at charity Focus on the Family Singapore.
“Empower them to search out places of interest and attractions, and popular places to eat. They can read reviews online, ask for recommendations from friends, vlog about their experiences and turn their trip into a good resource for others,” says Ms Koh.
It is a way to make young people feel part of the family, and grow their appreciation of what goes on in the background to make things happen, she says.
